Default Random Arena Only Monk Build

While trying to earn some faction to unlock stuff I figured I'd try and get that gladiator title. So I went to random arenas with my boon prot. It was fine for 10+ 10 game win streaks but it was a lot of work with some of the people you get teamed up with. They'd try (and fail) to kill a healing hands wammo while I had 2 assassins and a warrior just literally click on me and tap 1-2-3-4 1-2-3-4 until I died.

Instead I went with an odd monk build that works only in the random arena environment... RA... with the glut of Rt/Warrior/Assassins/Rangers, lack of of enchant removal, and mesmers that die as soon as they are touched.

Life Sheath
RoF
Mend Ailments
Blessed Signet
Divine Boon
Baltha Spirit
Life Bond
Holy Veil

Your energy management essentially becomes the endless wanding/mindless attacking + your blessed signet. Interrupts on your blessed signet can be a problem but they are so bad you can fake them out with a few RoF/life sheaths. Life sheath itself is a rather energy efficient heal/prot when the enemy tends to stay on one target. Since this is RA... its pretty much yourself.

Not really much strategy... bond everyone... baltha + boon yourself. If they have a necro or mesmer just preveil yourself.

Works like a charm in RA until you come against a decent mesmer or ranger. But the chances of encountering one of those is quite rare. The chances of encountering them AND a monk capable of keeping them alive is microscopic. Usually the Wammos you are paired with just click on the mesmers and that's that.

So... this is a build that counts on other players being mindless and generally pretty bad . Welcome to random arenas.

Sounds interesting. The advanced boon prot builds were a little.. too advanced for ground-level RA.

I would use a Mo/Mes build like the old boon protect build instead of Oob use MoR and inspired hex or go with infuser being a Mo/W blance stance and bonetti's.This would include
1 orisons
2 word of healing
3 dywana's kiss
4 healing touch
5 infuse health
6 healing seed or party
7 bonetti's or watchyourself
8 balance stance.

I would put atleast 4 points in tactics.

Life Bond builds are cool when they work, but the thing I don't like about them is if you get killed once it is very difficult to recover.

I have a monk build for RA that I run for laughs that has this general principle, basicaly kinetic armor+armor of earth, then throw in orison, word of healing(elite), healing breeze, healing touch, mend ailment. Just run in, hit your fun armor spells and let them all attack you. Rarely do they stop attacking when you're taking 3 damage, and no one brings enchantment removal either.

Gotta love RA... Almost reminds you of PvE.

Boon + Protect is really good in RA -- and I've had lots of success with Boon + Healing as well. As with any boon build, energy management is vital. Mantra of Recall is what I used on my Mo/Me. In the lvl 10 and 15 RAs, there are lots of warriors and pets, so Channeling can be quite useful there. I usually swap Inspired hex for it if I don't see many mesmers about. Here was my boon/heal build:

1)Orizon
2)Vigourous Spirit
3)Healing touch (mainly self heal)
4)Inspired Hex or Channeling or Mantra of Concentration
5)Purge or Mend Ailment
6)MoR
7)Divine Boon
8)Resurrect or Rez sig

Some people don't think monks should use rez skills. I prefer to, since I really didn't need an extra heal (like dwayna's kiss) on my bar. In Ascalon and Yaks I frequently had time to use Resurrect. Healing touch is a huge heal with boon builds, since you have high divine favor anyway. Purge is great for dealing with degen conditions and the irritating deep wound.

since were talking about odd builds, here an energy management ive been using in RA since its almost certain youll have a warrior after you.

Signet of Midnight + Spirit of Failure

Best targets are pets and barrage rangers..
I know its bad build but you gotta love when the opposing team is dumb and gives you 4 energy with every swing.

This does not look like boon protect build it look more like self heal build.
